The Throlson American Bison Foundation is glad to offer a scholarship. The award is intended to students pursuing undergraduate degre in the area of agriculture. Please note, only the U.S. and Canadian citizens are welcome to apply. Up to $9,000 will be given away for the winners. The application deadline is October 1 each year.

Scholarship Description
This program has been established to encourage bison related studies and promote leadership among future bison industry professionals. A minimum of $2,000 of the $9,000 amount will be awarded in the memory of Richard Zahringer to a student pursuing a degree in agriculture economics, ag-business, or accounting.

Award Value
A minimum of $2,000 of the $9,000 amount will be awarded to the winning candidates.

Level and Area of Studies
Undergraduate and graduate degree in agriculture field.

Place of Study
In the United States or Canada.

Eligibility and Criteria

  • Be an undergraduate with junior or senior standing (completed a minimum of 72 semester hours or 108 quarter hours), or a graduate student, in recognized livestock studies, animal science, veterinary, agriculture, accounting, ag-econ, or a human nutrition program, in the United States or Canada
  • Have at least one semester or two quarters remaining in their degree program
  • Be enrolled as a full-time student for the fall or spring semester/quarter
