Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust Scholarship for Iowa Students

Each year the Carver Trust Scholarship is offered for students reside in Iowa, United States of America. To be eligible, the candidates should be currently enrolled at one of Regents’ universities or one of 22 participating four-year private institutions. The successful applicants will be awarded maximum $7,600 for those studying at private university and $5,200 for those studying at public university. The application of this Carver Trust Scholarship must be submitted no later than 1 April each year.

Scholarship Description
Since the Carver Scholars program’s inception in 1988, the Trust has distributed over $21 million in awards to more than 3,900 individuals for their junior and senior years of study at one of Iowa’s public or private colleges and universities supported by the initiative. The program centers on providing substantial scholarships to students who struggle to overcome significant social and economic obstacles in the pursuit of their education or who may be living in circumstances that may not normally be taken into account by other financial aid programs.

Award Value
The winners of this award may expect receive 5,200 for students at public universities and $7,600 for students at the private colleges.

Eligibility and Criteria
This Carver Trust Scholarship is available for:

  • Sophomore students currently enrolled in one of the three Regents’ universities or one of the 22 participating four-year private institutions holding membership with the Iowa College Foundation
  • Sophomore students currently attending a community college in Iowa, who intend to transfer to one of the participating four-year institutions as a junior in the fall semester of the award year.

Applicants’ Nationality
U.S students who have been a resident of the state of Iowa for at least five consecutive years immediately prior to application are welcome to apply.
