NIDA–Inserm Postdoctoral Drug Abuse Research Fellowships

This fellowship award is exclusively available for U.S. and French Scientists. All candidates are expected to hold degree in medicine or biomedical sciences. Those fellowships cover all of the related expenses. To apply, the application packet must be submitted no later than 1July 2015.

Fellowship Description
The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale (Inserm) have established a binational postdoctoral research exchange fellowship program. NIDA will support up to two fellowships for French scientists to work in the United States with a current NIDA grantee, and Inserm will support up to two awards for U.S. scientists to work in France with a mentor at an Inserm research unit or center.

Value and Tenure
French scientist will be granted up to $42,000 for living cost and the cost of personal health insurance and professional development activities. While, the U.S. scientists will receive an annual salary between 34,200€ and 45,600€. All fellows will be granted award for one – round trip. The fellowships are tenable for 6 – 12 months.

Level and Area of Studies
Post-doctoral research in medicine or biomedical-related sciences.

Place of Study
The research can be taken in France for U.S scientists and in the U.S. for French scientists.

Eligibility and Criteria
The requirements of this fellowship are depending on the fellows’ nationality as can be seen below:
French applicants must:
-Hold an earned doctoral degree in medicine or biomedical sciences.
-Have completed postdoctoral research.
-Be a citizen or permanent resident of France.
-Be a citizen or permanent resident of France.
-Be eligible for a J-1 visa to enter the United States.
-Be proficient in written and spoken English.

U.S. applicants must:
-Hold an earned doctoral degree in medicine or biomedical sciences.
-Have completed postdoctoral research.
-Be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States.
-Live and work in the United States at the time the application is submitted.
-Be eligible for a temporary-stay visa to work in France.
