The applications for the Eleanor Pinkney Oddies Scholarship are currently accepted. Students from all nationalities are welcome to apply. To be eligible, he or she must be a full-time postgraduate students who are currently writing dissertation on a Latin-related subjects at Newcastle University. The scholarship winner will receive benefit of £1,000. The application deadline is 2 June 2015.
The award was established by the late Professor Guy Oddie (BArch 1944; Dip Town and Country Planning, 1945) to encourage the study of the Latin language. The award is named after Professor Oddie’s mother, Eleanor, whose determined support enabled him to come to Newcastle University.
Those are selected will receive up to £1,000.
Level and Area of Studies
MA Classics and Ancient History, MLitt, MPhil and PhD (first year of study). Please note, students should write dissertation on a Latin-related subject.

The study can be taken at the Newcastle University, UK.
Eligibility and Criteria
There is no specific requirements, however, all applicants must be interested in Latin-related subjects.
There is no nationality restriction.
Those wish to be considered for this scholarship should write to Professor Jakob Wisse giving:
(1) the title of their proposed project;
(2) a brief outline (of at most 200 words) of their proposed research;
(3) their plans/expectations for funding their studies.
This applies both if you have already received an offer of a place for one of the programmes listed above, and if you are planning to apply for such a place; in the latter case, you should have applied for a place by 1st June.
